Hello, Bud Families!
July and its hot, hot days have flown by, and we’re ready to start the month of August! We had a wonderful time this past month exploring different types of community helpers and what their jobs involve.
We began our week by discussing Firefighters and Police officers. Our friends helped identify the equipment that might be found on a fire truck and a police car! We loved making firefighter crowns and police badges during art time. We also had many class discussions about why we would call either firefighters or police officers, and when it’s okay to dial 911.
The following week, we continued our study with discussions about mail carriers. We talked about how we receive mail and the vehicles used to deliver it, such as trucks, boats, and airplanes. We wrote letters to classmates and also created letters for our families.
Our next topic was construction workers. The class had a great time making stop signs, construction cones, and discussing the different types of equipment commonly found on a construction site. Our students loved talking about various trucks and their different uses.
We finished the month by learning about doctors and nurses. The Buds were excited to share their visits to the doctor’s office and what they experienced. They also had a chance to listen to their own heartbeat during circle time!
In August, our final month with this classroom of Buds, our focus will shift from community helpers to a “Sun, Sand, and Water” theme! We look forward to some summer art projects and spending as much time as we can with your children as we finish this amazing year.
As we get closer to the time for our Buds to move on and become Branchers, there are a few things to keep in mind. Our Buds will have more independence in the Branch room, and we have been working to prepare them! They are doing very well with potty training, packing their bags, and helping to put their cots away after nap.
A heartfelt farewell as we enter the final month with these Buds… We’re excited to see them move on to new adventures. This year has been full of learning, love, and getting to know each one of them and all of you! Thank you for everything you’ve done for us; we truly appreciate it.

We will be closed from August 31st through September 7th to prepare for the next classes moving up and for Labor Day.
