2026 June Bud News

Dear Bud Families,

Hello, Bud Families!

Welcome, June! We are so excited for warmer weather and all the activities that come with it! Now is the perfect time to see our Buds bloom!

May’s study focused on science and growth! We loved watching our Buds develop their hypotheses and keep asking questions like “Why?” “How?” and “What if?” Curiosity and exploration are essential for cognitive development. Our Buds learn best when they explore their environment and try new things.

We started our month by talking about what a scientist is! The Buds learned about different kinds of scientists, like paleontologists, botanists, and entomologists! We discussed how scientists wear lab coats, gloves, and goggles to keep themselves safe during experiments. The Buds also got to practice being scientists by wearing safety goggles during our class experiments!

The Buds spent time planting flowers and even some green beans! Our parts of a flower song was a big hit as we discussed the roots, stem, leaves, and flower. We also spent time doing experiments with flowers! During our color-changing flower experiment, the Buds had a blast watching their flowers turn all the rainbow colors! While the Buds enjoyed testing their hypothesis, they also learned a lot about cause and effect along the way!

We continued our science studies with more exciting experiments, including “color changing flowers,” “traveling colors,” “will it melt?,” “hand boiler,” “rain cloud jar,” growing crystals, and “magic skittles.” This past month’s science and growth study will help us a lot as we transition to our life cycle study in June! We look forward to watching our caterpillars munch on leaves, create cocoons, and reach their final stage of metamorphosis. We are also excited to welcome tadpoles into our classroom! (If we can find them.) Lots of responsibility and wonder lie ahead!

Reminders and more information:

With warmer weather approaching, we would love to do more water play. If possible, please send a swimsuit for your child!

Almost all of our Buds are using the toilet! If your Bud isn’t, please help us by practicing at home since we are also working on it here at school. Buds should be fully potty trained before entering the Branch room. Nap time pull-ups are okay!

All of the love,

Ms. Stephanie, Ms. Maci, and Ms. Gale
