2026 November Bud News

Bud Families,

It’s November, and we’ve already felt that cold chill coming in. October was a wonderful month in the Bud classroom, with so much growth and development. We will continue to remind the children of our expectations as they become more comfortable in their environment. Each student has settled into the schedule and found a space to take charge of their learning through exploration and discovery.

The Buds discussed the difference between “real” and “pretend” stories. Our October study of fairy tales included the following books:

  • The Little Old Lady Who Was Not Afraid of Anything
  • The Three Little Pigs
  • The Runaway Pancake
  • Goldilocks and the Three Bears

We also checked out our ‘Giant’ pumpkin from the DD Ranch. We brought in two other large pumpkins, hammered them with golf tees, tried to lift them during circle time, and cut them open to explore the insides.

November’s study will focus on harvest and fall foods. We will read books about the season and the harvest. At the end of the month, we will work together to make a special classroom treat with apples! The children will then get to taste-test it at our Friendsgiving. We believe the best way for children to learn is through sensory experiences.

Don’t forget to sign up for the conferences. We look forward to meeting you on November 11th! This is a great opportunity for us to get to know you better and spend a few minutes face-to-face. We love getting to know your children and seeing their unique personalities shine! Thank you for sharing them with us.

New Bud Students and Families! We are excited to welcome Wolf and Oliver from the Sprout rooms. They have visited with us during transition times in October and will permanently join us at the beginning of November. We have enjoyed getting to know them during their transition days. We also want to welcome Conrad, who is new to the Growing Tree family!

A few reminders: As the weather gets colder, please make sure your child wears layered clothing to match the changing weather. Being outside is a class favorite and a necessity for our Buds. We are outside multiple times every day. It is not too early to bring in the following items for your child:

  • Snowsuit (one piece snowsuits with a hood are easiest for the Buds to manage if you are looking for a new snowsuit)
  • Boots
  • Two pairs of mittens/gloves
  • Hat

Please label each item with your child’s name, leave them at school all week, take them home each Friday, and return them on Monday with their bedding.

After we finish displaying your child’s art, we will place it in their file folder on the table by the classroom door for you to pick up. Most of our activities are sensory-based group activities that support problem-solving and help develop social skills through verbal communication and empathy.

  • School Closed: November 11th for Parent Conferences.
  • School Closed: November 26th and 27th for Thanksgiving.

Thank you for your kindness; we look forward to seeing all of you soon at the conferences!

Best wishes,

Ms. Stephanie, Ms. Gale, and Ms. Ginny
