2026 January Sprout 2 News

Sprout 2 Families,

Welcome to 2026!

In December, we explored Bags and Bows. We studied different bags and their purposes. The Sprouts had mini bags around the classroom, and they had the opportunity to play with the bags and use their imagination. They got to use the bows in their projects, and we even showed them how to make bows with paper and ribbon.

Please welcome Miss. Ashlee to the Sprout group! Miss. Ashlee will be our fifth teacher helping out in both Sprout 1 and Sprout 2 classes. I’m sure some of you have met her by now, but if you haven’t yet, please stop by and introduce yourself. She’s made a great addition to our teaching staff.  Here are some things to know about Ashlee.

Ashlee has lived in Central Oregon for over 10 years and loves it here. Her passion has always been in childcare, and Ashlee brings seven years of experience. She says she feels honored to have the opportunity to make a positive impact on your child’s life, as she understands there’s nothing more valuable. Ashlee looks forward to getting to know everyone and building connections.

Monthly Highlights

  • Avery has been a big talker this month. She will welcome a friend in the morning and or staff, and she’ll never forget to say goodbye. It always surprises us when she has a long back-and-forth conversation with us.
  • Eliza has really shown us her climbing skills this month, from showing us different ways to climb on the play structure to taking a wheel and helping herself climbthe waffle houses. Eliza’s friends have even learned to follow her steps and take a wheel to help them climb onto the waffle houses.
  • Kollins has demonstrated considerable independence this month. Kollins has learned to put on her own socks and shoes. Although it may seem like a small victory, it’s a significant step for the Sprout class and an even bigger step for her independence and self-esteem.
  • Luca has been a big brother to our new friend Oliver. Luca will show Oliver around the classroom and playground. Luca has shown lots of patience and love to his friends.
  • Maisy has been a great fan of babies this month. Maisy has shown lots of interest in changing babies diapers. Miss. Jennifer made baby diapers and wipes out of felt and Maisy has really enjoyed learning how to wipe and place a new diaper on her baby.
  • Oliver has adjusted so smoothly to the Sprout 1 group. Oliver is a big fan of the projects we have made and he really seems to enjoy the playstructure.
  • Sydney has shown lots of consistent growth and independence this month. Sydney will tell us she has boogies and then walk over to the tissues and clean her own nose while looking in the mirror. Sydney enjoys being independent and helping her friends be independent too!
  • Wesley has always been interested in the art activities we do. This month has definitely been her favourite. Wesley will run to the table, grab a chair, and wait very patiently for the activity to end. We always enjoy seeing the outcome of Wesley and her friends’ art.

The books we will be reading are:

  • Snow Dog, Go Dog
  • Frosty Fun
  • I Am Small
  • 10 Playful Penguins

January’s study is Ice Cold. We will study Arctic animals and the Arctic landscape. We will also explore various sensory activities using both artificial and natural snow and ice. We are more than ready for the upcoming chilly month, both inside and outside the classroom.

Friendly Reminders:

  • Please bring in a family photo so we can complete our family board.
  • Please make sure your child has the appropriate outer wear.

Stay warm!

Miss. Jennifer, Miss. Yesenia and Miss. Ashlee
