Seedling Families,

Spring has finally sprung! That means more outside time, happy babies, and satisfied teachers.

When we were outside in the fall, this group was lying on blankets and propped up on pillows. Now they are independently exploring the yard with enthusiasm. Our big friends are learning to navigate the slides, waiting their turn in line, climbing up, sitting on their bottoms, and sliding down feet first. They are also learning to get on and off the ride-on toys and move them around the yard, mostly backwards, but it’s a start. Our younger friends enjoy themselves by crawling around the yard, pushing cars and trucks, and working on balance around the playhouse, tires, and red stairs. They open and close the door, go inside, and come back out and play peek-a-boo with each other through the windows.

We have been offering sensory play opportunities with foam soap and finger paints. Some of our friends are enjoying it, while others are a little more skeptical. Some kids take a little longer to warm up to new things, so we will continue to offer different opportunities and allow them to engage when they are ready.

Hudson is all smiles as he watches his friends play. They always stop by to say hello, offer a toy, or give a gentle touch. He is getting stronger and trying to pull himself up to a sitting position so he can better see everything going on around him.

Wesley, Kollins, and Maisy, our girl trio, are all confidently walking. They play chase and peek-a-boo around the furniture, and help their teachers take the laundry down the hall to be washed. They see the laundry basket come out and rush for the door in hopes of going for a walk.

Lonnie is celebrating his birthday this month on the 8th. He likes to do things his way and has learned to enter and exit the playhouse through the window outside. It was concerning at first, but he always pops up with a smile.

Wolf is all about climbing up the slide, so we have one slide for sliding down and one slide for climbing up. We love watching them challenge themselves in new ways.

Beckham is all about doors, drawers, and cupboards, so it isn’t surprising that he crawls right into the little house when we open the door to go out. He can open and close the door from inside or outside. Let his friends in, and let them out again. He is the happiest little door man.

Thomas has moved from his bottom scoot to a full 4×4 crawl and is picking up speed. He is pulling himself up to a standing position and is loving his new mobility and independence.

Not surprisingly, Milo was a massive fan of the sensory foam play. We knew from the first bath that he was going to be fully invested in the messy stuff. Milo’s enthusiasm for life and willingness to try new things always bring us a little extra joy.

We hope everyone is enjoying the warmer weather as much as we are. Have a great month!
