Bud Families,
Hello, October! We can’t believe how quickly this first month in The Bud room has gone by. We’ve enjoyed getting to know your families better this past month and introducing your children to their new classroom! Our goal is for your child’s learning and classroom experience to be a place of comfort, encouragement, and a space where they feel safe to explore and learn.
We had a lot of fun exploring September’s unit on “Emotions.” Our Buds have done an excellent job identifying their own emotions and feelings, and are also noticing their friends’ emotions. The Buds have been learning to take deep breaths and calm their bodies when strong emotions arise. We encourage them to take breaks when needed and ask for help. We will continue to use these skills throughout the year and incorporate them into our monthly studies.
October’s study is on Fairy Tales! We will be reading and exploring concepts from stories such as “The Little Old Lady Who Was Not Afraid of Anything,” “The Runaway Pancake,” “The Three Little Pigs,” “Goldilocks and the Three Bears,” and a few more. During this time of year, with its many beautiful colors and textures, we will bring these elements into the classroom and use them to bring our fairy tales to life!
The Bud Room promotes your child’s independence and self-reliance. “I can do it” is a form of active learning that builds confidence and encourages independence. Here are some “I can do it” activities your Buds are currently working on and that are also great for practicing at home:
- Putting on socks & shoes
- Pushing in their chair
- Washing hands and face
- Cleaning up from meals & snack times
Your Buds have learned many new classroom expectations and responsibilities and are catching on quickly! Moving from smaller class sizes to the Bud room can bring about significant changes in many ways. Routine and consistency are essential for your Buds’ learning, and we aim to make this transition as smooth as possible. We will continue to provide reminders about our daily schedule and the general rules we follow in the classroom!
Reminders:
- While it can be warm in the afternoons, having a coat that stays at school is perfect for days when it unexpectedly gets cold. We would also love it if clothing items could be labeled with the child’s name!
- We work very hard on potty training throughout the year, but accidents happen, so having at least one extra set of clothes is helpful. We will send reminders if we are running low on anything.
- On Fridays, the Buds pack their bags with blankets and stuffies to take home for washing, and please bring them back on Monday.
With our first month completed, we plan to add more artwork and projects to our daily routine. Check your child’s art folder regularly, as it fills up fast!
Thank you for helping us fill our family picture board. The children enjoy seeing their families displayed in the classroom. We always love new pictures, so feel free to bring more if you’d like!
We look forward to seeing you all at the pumpkin patch. Keep an eye out for details or visit the website for more information.
Best Wishes Always,
Ms. Stephanie, Ms. Maci, & Ms. Gale
