2026 July Big Seed News

Dear Big Seed Families,

We had a fantastic month exploring our Ocean theme in June! The children learned about many ocean animals, including fish, turtles, octopuses, whales, and crabs. We created lots of ocean-themed artwork, enjoyed water play activities, and explored sensory experiences inspired by the sea.

One of the children’s favorite activities was learning about crabs. They practiced moving their hands to imitate crab claws and walked sideways just like crabs. The children had so much fun pretending to be ocean animals while building their coordination and gross motor skills.

July Theme: Farm

This month, we will be visiting the farm! The children will learn about farm animals such as cows, pigs, horses, sheep, donkeys, chickens, and ducks. We will explore the sounds animals make, learn about life on the farm, enjoy farm-themed books, songs, sensory activities, and art projects.

July Books:

  • “Old MacDonald Had a Farm”
  • “Discovery Moo On The Farm”
  • “A Day On The Farm
  • “Click, Clack, Moo Cows That Type”

Songs:

  • “Old MacDonald Had a Farm”
  • “The Five Little Ducks”
  • “The Animals on the Farm”
  • “Baa, Baa, Black Sheep”

ASL Sings:

  • Donkey
  • Chicken
  • Hurt
  • Gentle

July Highlights:

  • Archer is discovering his voice and loves making the funniest sounds throughout the day! He still enjoys watching the cars drive by when we’re outside, and it’s one of his favorite ways to explore the world around him. Archer also loves kicking the ball like he’s playing soccer, and it’s wonderful to see him building his coordination and gross motor skills while having so much fun.
  • Avery is like a little parrot; she loves repeating everything her teachers say! She has even started using Spanish words like “leche” (milk) and “agua” (water), which has been so much fun to hear. Avery is also becoming more independent during mealtimes, she’s learning to clean up after herself by bringing her plate and cup to the teachers when she is finished. She loves outdoor play and is always excited to wear her hat and sunglasses on sunny days.
  • Eleanor is now a confident walker, and she has become much more independent! She loves choosing a book and sitting on the sofa or with the cushions to look through the pages on her own. Eleanor has also developed such a love for music and dancing. Whether we’re in the classroom or out in the playground, if she hears music (even from a passing car), she immediately starts to dance!
  • Hudson is using more words every day and is becoming a great communicator! He also understands some of the Spanish words Ms. Kelly & Ms. Blanca use throughout the day. Hudson loves playing outdoors and especially enjoys pushing his friends while they ride the toy car. It’s wonderful to see him building both his language and social skills through play.
  • Jack is so ready to move to the Sprouts classroom! He has been doing an amazing job during his transition time and is adjusting very well. Jack now helps clean up after meals, follows directions consistently, and is using more words to communicate with both teachers and friends. We are so proud of all the progress he has made.
  • Ren absolutely loves outdoor play! She gets so excited that she’ll walk to the door and say, “Outside!” when she’s ready to go. One of her favorite activities is riding in the play car and having her friends push her. It’s wonderful to see her excitement and enthusiasm for outdoor adventures and playing with her classmates!

  • Sonny is discovering his voice and loves exploring the different sounds he can make! During mealtimes, he often starts a little “chorus”, which always brings smiles to the classroom. He also loves outdoor play and has especially been enjoying our water play activities.

  • Theo is ready to move to Sprouts classroom! He has been adapting very well during his transition and continues to show confidence and independence. Theo loves playing outside and is always aware of the birds and airplanes, even the ones so far away that they’re hard to see! He has excellent observation skills. Theo is also a wonderful role model for his younger peers, and we are so proud of the kindness and leadership he demonstrates every day.

Goodbye:
Jack & Theo will be moving up to the Sprouts classroom with Ms. Jennifer and Ms. Yesenia. We will miss them both, but know that they are ready and will continue to do so well!

Welcome:
