2026 June Blossom News

Dear Blossom Families,

“In every walk with nature, one receives far more than he seeks.” – John Muir.

It’s been a wonderful month exploring gardens, plants, and life in the garden. The Blossoms especially enjoyed all the hands-on activities, including germinating seeds, selling flowers at the flower shop, identifying insects and their larvae, and painting our rock critters. We discovered our own life on the playground, spotting insects, birds, and spiders. We learned to appreciate many backyard critters and to thank the bees for their tireless and vital work. We found out that we eat some plants’ roots, leaves, stems, and even seeds! And, of course, we are experts on what plants need to thrive.

We’ve enjoyed seeing and hearing connections in Blossom’s conversations both in class and outside regarding our study. Some have used their artistic talents to draw plants and their life cycles, build gardens in the block center, and arrange plants and items in the fairy garden. Others connect plants and insects we learn about in class with experiences at home or while out with you. They are becoming very good at identifying common insects and love finding bugs outside and trying to name them.

Questions to ask your blossoming botanist:

  • What things in our yard/garden help or hurt the plants?
  • What plants do you find beautiful in our neighborhood or garden?

We’re thrilled to announce that starting in June, we’ll embark on our Artist Study. This is a unique opportunity for us to immerse ourselves in the world of art for an entire month, and we couldn’t be more excited. We’ll be exploring a wide range of art mediums, from paint and watercolor resist to calligraphy and clay. We’ll delve into the color wheel, learn about the tools artists use, and explore various art styles and famous artists throughout history. The possibilities are endless, and we’re eagerly looking forward to this artistic journey with you!

If you, a friend, or a family member is an artist in any form, please share your expertise with us! Feel free to message us or check in with questions or ideas. We are extremely excited to let our creativity soar this month!

Thank you for all the thoughtful and generous gestures during Teacher Appreciation Week. We feel so fortunate to be a part of the Growing Tree community!

Ms. Stephanie and Miss Madeline
