Greetings Sprout 2 Families,
It was a pleasure seeing you at the DD Ranch. We hope you all enjoyed it as much as we did, and we look forward to seeing you at future Growing Tree events throughout the year.

October’s study was Paper. The Sprouts had the chance to use paper in many different ways. They explored paper cups, paper plates, and tissue paper.

We also enjoyed the pumpkin we picked up at the DD Ranch. The class washed it and then painted it with watercolors. We then cut up the pumpkin, looking for the seeds. The Sprouts spent two days carefully gutting the entire pumpkin and making sure no seeds were left behind. They enjoyed eating their pumpkin seeds as a snack. They did a fantastic job, and we were amazed to see how much they enjoyed eating the pumpkin seeds.

The Sprouts had a great time playing with their gooey spider trap and webs (soft playdough, spiders, and black plastic net)

Monthly Highlights
Avery has enjoys examining the shapes with different colored lenses inside. She holds the shapes up to her eyes and looks through the window; her favorites have been the green and blue lens shapes.

Eliza loved every moment of gutting pumpkins. She would remind us that she also guts pumpkins at home. When it came to removing the seeds, she did such a great job that she even went over to help other friends, too!
Elliott has really enjoyed the new songs we’ve added this month for circle time, especially the Spanish song “Buenos Dias” (Good morning). As he plays throughout the day, you’ll hear him quietly sing “Buenos Dias” to himself, and of course, we’ll join in!

Kollins definitely loves the kitchen. While we’re outside on the playground, she goes into the kitchen and makes all kinds of meals. She really enjoys making sure her pan has a lid and likes walking around with it.

Luca has noticed that we have plenty of pumpkins around the room for activities. He collects them, lines them up, and sings “5 Little Pumpkins.” One of our most popular circle time songs.

As much as Maisy loves outside time, she can’t wait to be the clipboard helper when it’s time to go inside. Maisy waits at the door and points at the board. It’s one of her many jobs she loves!

Having a tough day and need some motivation? Sydney will lift your spirits. Sydney sees a friend struggling to take off their coat or put on their shoes. She will say, “No, no, you got it,” and as soon as they do it, she says, “Yay (friend’s name) got it!”

This month, Wesley has been a fantastic helper. She moves from cot to cot, arranging blankets and making sure her friends are comfortable and cozy.
