Dear Big Seed Families,

It has been an incredible first month together! We loved spending time with all your Big Seeds and getting to know them. We want to thank all our parents for their patience and support as we begin transitioning into new routines for our Big Seeds. So far, everyone is doing great, and we’re all making it to lunch time, haha! We look forward to seeing what this year has in store for us.

September:

We learned All About Us! We created our first art project, “Apple handprints.” The Big Seeds discovered a spark of magic from within themselves. They also found their favorite noise-making machine in the classroom—the sensory bottles!

Beckham loves the big trucks in the classroom and enjoys ‘racing’ them everywhere. He also likes sneaking up from behind to surprise you with a big hug and a bright smile.

Lonnie loves to scoop up sand from the sand table and pour it into cups or anything that can travel around with him. He also enjoys showing friends his pots full of sand.

Maz loves playing with the ‘car cars’ inside and outside of the classroom and watching them go by on the street. He also shows off his excellent balancing skills by standing up in the rocking boat.

Wolf loves to climb as much as he can and is quite proud of himself. He enjoys going to the shed to pick his favorite toy of the day to play with.

Thomas loves giving his friends rides in the car all around the playground. He is working hard on connecting the pop beads to make a row.

Milo has been in Japan for three weeks. We cannot wait to welcome him to the Big Seed classroom when he returns from his trip!

Colette loves selecting books to read and discussing everything she sees on the pages. She’s also a big help when it’s time to clean up.

Ollie loves watching others with a big smile on his face. He also enjoys playing peek-a-boo with his teachers and friends.

October:

Our study is ‘Hello Fall.” We will observe the beautiful leaves that fall on our playground and create our own Big Seed pumpkin patch. We might even discover a scarecrow or a corn maze along the way.

October Books:

  • Where Is Baby’s Pumpkin
  • The Legend of the Great Pumpkin
  • Because of an Acorn
  • Pete the Cat: Five Little Pumpkins
  • The Autumn Visitors

Songs of the month:

  • Itsy Bitsy Spider
  • 10 Little Spiders
  • 5 Little Pumpkins
  • The Leaves are Falling Down

Reminders:

As fall approaches, temperatures can vary significantly throughout the day. Since we spend time outside every day, we need clothes that can be layered to stay comfortable, including socks and shoes.

The highlight of our Big Seeds day is exploring outside, even throughout the winter. We would like for your child to have the following at school so they are comfortable outside.

  • Snowsuit (if possible, the one-piece suits with the fold-over cuffs are the easiest for the Big Seeds
  • Boots
  • Hat
  • Mittens (two pairs, please)
  • Please label all clothing.

If you haven’t already, we’d love a family picture to add to our “Family Board.”

We look forward to seeing you at the DD Ranch on October 4th to celebrate Fall.

Best

Maria and Arren
