2026 May Sprout 1 News

Sprout 1 Families

Is it just me, or did that month fly by? April has been a month FULL of life and energy! We’ve experienced big growth spurts in our classroom, or some might call it spring fever. The sun is shining, the days are longer, and we are ready to PLAY!

This month, we’ve been focusing on our beloved bugs and how they appear in the world around us. With spring here, it’s been wonderful to watch the world wake up and blossom so we can enjoy it even more. We’ve loved the clear blue skies, watching for airplanes, the petals falling from the trees as the wind blows, making it look like a beautiful spring wonderland, and the birds singing to us while we play in the sunshine. How lucky are we? Immersing yourself in play with the kiddos is such a treat—it helps you stay present and enjoy the small things around you. I swear, I learn something new every day by seeing the world through their lenses.

This month, we will get creative by exploring dramatic play and the various roles people play in our society! This is a very important part of our curriculum because it provides our kids with opportunities to recall past experiences and create new ones. They learn about themselves, their families, and the significance of people’s roles in society! Acting out different roles helps create opportunities to practice problem-solving skills within their community!

This Little Sprout…

  • When circle time arrives, Levon’s face lights up, and he gets so excited to do our “Hello” song every morning. He even started a new trend where, when we call their name, we give a big high five now!
  • Colette is quite the observer. Miss Teresa and Miss Sam will make one sudden move, and we’ll be playing a game of 20 questions with Coco about where, what, how, and why we are doing something. “Sammy, what is Reesa doin?”
  • Crew has been such a huge help with cleaning up! He’s a boy with a plan and always ready to help put away our toys, even if he wasn’t the one playing with them! THANK YOU, CREW!!
  • Wolf and Maz have been doing this new thing where they sprint and nose dive into the sandbox like they’re diving into a pool. Can’t even be mad because it’s hilarious to watch!
  • Lonnie and Miss Sam have been having some tussling matches, where we bounce around and talk about how we’re gonna tussle, but it always ends up turning into a break dance battle.
  • Georgia has been loving keeping us updated on her life outside of school (whether it’s true or not, she loves a good story). She will let us know about her latest trips to Mexico, how she’s going on airplanes, eating ice cream, and going to the beach with her friends!
  • Beckham is always on the go! When we are feeling like moving and grooving, he will ask for “stomp stomp” or “marching,” and we will put on “We are the Dinosaurs” and “Ants Go Marching!” and he leads the way!!

Reminders:

  • Please make sure your child has a variety of clothes in their cubby for the minute-by-minute temperature changes Bend experiences
  • If you haven’t already signed the Sunscreen permission slip in Google Drive, please do so.
  • To our beautiful moms…. “Happy Mothers Day”
  • Thank you all for everything you do; we are so grateful to you! Can’t wait to see what May has in store for our Sprouts!

Best Wishes,

Sammy and Reesa
