2026 April Bud News

Dear Bud Families,

April is here, and we have enjoyed a few days of warm weather to lift our spring spirits! We look forward to seeing the leaves and flowers bloom on the trees!

Our “Dinosaur” study in March was a success! The children participated in our dinosaur activities and enjoyed a fun and fascinating month of learning about different types of dinosaurs, their fossils and rocks, and their diets. We began our research by learning about various dinosaurs and identifying them through their unique features. We pretended to be paleontologists and dug for dinosaurs, which was by far the most popular activity throughout the month. We discovered that examining their teeth helped us determine what they ate and how big they were. We also followed the children’s lead regarding which books and stories they wanted us to read and what topics interested them.

We spent time answering questions from the children, such as how gigantic the dinosaurs were and comparing the sizes of different dinosaurs, like measuring how big a T’Rex’s foot was compared to our feet. We spent many moments roaring like dinosaurs and learning what they might have sounded like. It was our loudest study by far! The Bud class now understands the difference between being a carnivore, herbivore, and omnivore. We continued last month’s study of the foods we eat and talked about what we ate during meal times to see if they fit into the carnivore or herbivore categories. We also found out that most of us are omnivores since we enjoy both meatballs and broccoli. We discussed what scientists think dinosaurs might have eaten.

We also had a surprise visitor, Clover the Leprechaun! Oh boy, did she make a mess of our classroom! She knocked over chairs, left toys out, and sprinkled glitter all over the classroom and onto the children while they napped. She also gave us green milk, green pancakes, and hid gold coins for us to find! We tried to set a trap to catch her, but she was too clever. Clover even left footprints on Mrs. Tammy when she went into our closets! She also asked us to put one of our shoes in the hall before we napped and left us a special treat to enjoy. We had a lot of fun and said our goodbyes… until next year, Clover!

We are excited about our April study of “Art.” We already have quite a few little artists in our classroom. Art is one of the most excellent tools for learning and self-discovery, and we can’t wait to dive into this new topic! We will explore our primary colors and how to create secondary colors from them. We will also discuss different artists like Eric Carle and, of course, various mediums of art!

Thank you all for your helpfulness as we continue to support our children in growing and learning here at The Growing Tree. We work diligently to keep your children engaged in our monthly activities and to help them develop both their minds and bodies. Your Buds are gaining independence as they walk into the classroom on their own, unpack their belongings, and pack them up again when Friday arrives! Soon, we will be working on bringing our cots to the closet after nap time to prepare them for their transition to the Branch room.

Once again, thank you for visiting us at the conference. It was wonderful to have a brief chat and discuss the amazing contributions your children bring to our Bud Room! We truly value you and your family.
All our love,

Ms. Stephanie, Ms. Maci, and Ms. Gale
