Dear Bud Families,
February has flown by! Hard to believe we’re already another month into 2026! February was full of discussions about the foods we eat and learning how to keep our bodies healthy and our bones growing.
We discussed how foods help us grow, what makes a healthy food choice, and which foods are considered “sometimes foods.” The children practiced distinguishing these foods through silly songs like “Spaghetti and Meatballs.” They also had the opportunity to play with our vegetable matching cards during free time! Friends could sort all the similar cards into piles and talk about each food.
The Buds explored how our bodies grow! We spent time measuring each child with yarn that we hung so they all could see how tall they are. We will keep these pieces of yarn to compare at the end of the year to see our growth as Buds! Our Buds also took turns during the month to get their bodies traced, and friends were able to color on the outlines during free play. We also talked about parts of our bodies, such as our bones, and what else lies under our skin, like our muscles, heart, and lungs. We discussed how our skin feels hot and cold, what happens when we move our bodies, and how the food we eat gets pushed down into our stomachs and eventually becomes “potty work.”
Many circle times were spent doing salamander yoga, dance parties, and “Whose in the middle”!
Our Buds are experiencing significant growth and development, so focusing on our bodies helps them recognize that their body is part of who they are and can be influenced by how they move, what they eat, and the importance of sleep. Being aware of their bodies encourages even faster growth!
We had a wonderful Valentine’s Day celebration. The Buds enjoyed showing their classmates love and friendship by passing out their special valentines brought from home. Thank you, parents, for helping create the fun and excitement everyone experienced. We appreciate all of you!
During March, we will explore Dinosaurs and Paleontology! We can’t wait to see what we find – whether it’s dinosaurs, fossils, or the Buds might make their own discoveries along the way! Not to mention how much they love digging in the dirt — they are natural paleontologists!
Reminders:
–Warm coats, hats, and gloves (we prefer two pairs of gloves).
-March 11th week Leperchaun arrives
-March 20th Center Closed for Conferences
Best Wishes Always,
Ms. Stephanie, Ms. Maci, and Ms. Gale.
