Welcome, Bud Families,

We were delighted to see our Bud families during our conferences in April! Compiling those observations was a lot of work, but we genuinely enjoy sharing what your children are doing and saying in the Bud room. They grow and learn by exploring and expressing themselves.

Our Buds enjoyed using their creativity and imagination as we dove into our art study last month! We started by learning what primary colors were and what colors we create when we mix them! We explored various art forms, such as painting, collage art with Eric Carle, painting with textured tools and ice cubes, and even music! The Buds also learned about the ‘Authors’ and the ‘Illustrators’ jobs when making a book.

The most essential part of creating an art piece is the freedom to explore and create. We experimented with different ways to make and create with unique tools such as strings, cotton balls, and even bubbles. Our art study began with channeling our inner “Eric Carle” and creating collage art. We broke it down into three projects. We painted with different colors on day one, using sponges as our painting tool.  On day two, our Buds had a blast tearing and cutting up their paper to prepare for our third and final day of gluing and pasting our collage masterpiece! This has allowed us to strengthen Bud’s cognitive and fine motor skills. We loved seeing them grow in their problem-solving skills and recognizing how specific tools can elevate a painting!

We turned to books for inspiration. One exciting book was “Mix it Up” by Hervé Tullet. This book taught them the magic of mixing colors. The Buds put this book to practice with our ‘Mixing handprints’ project. We had a blast watching the excitement when the friends rubbed their hands together to create a new color!

In May, we will shift gears and focus on Science and Growing! We are eager to see your Bud’s scientific side and encourage them to ask “Why?” when searching for answers. They will get to spend time growing their plants and practicing being Scientists.

Reminders:

  • We are closed Monday, May 26th to observe Memorial Day.
  • Before moving to the Branch room, the BUDS must be potty trained (nap time pull-ups are okay). We are here to support you and your child with this!
  • With the weather getting warmer please remember we go outside twice a day no matter what. Having a pair of shorts and possibly a hat in your child’s cubby would be wonderful.
  • If your child has a different sunscreen than what we provide and you have signed a form, the only one we can use is the home-provided brand. Please make sure to bring us the same brand each time, and we will apply it.

Thank you all for your love and support! We are so grateful to teach and learn from your children.

All of our love and appreciation,

Ms. Stephanie, Ms. Maci, & Ms. Gale
