Dear Blossom Families,

These Blossoms are healthy, strong, and ready to take on our next study! We have learned about our healthy habits and manners (skills that will take us far beyond just the classroom) and have used our newfound knowledge daily.

We began February by discussing the healthy habits that help us grow strong daily. We learned how to brush our teeth properly (and even had a visit from the dentist to help us with this), had an exercise day, and learned about other healthy habits, including the Blossom Room favorite of reading lots of books! While learning about our healthy habits, we made healthy habit helpers to practice our habits and manners with each other!

We then moved on to talking about nutrition. We discussed eating colorfully and learned about the different food groups. We looked at numerous healthy cookbooks and then tested our knowledge by making a classroom recipe and cooking it! It was a delicious and nutritious meal.

After taking this time to learn about those great habits that keep us going strong, we also learned about our manners. Our Blossom Room focuses on five life skills– we are helpful, patient, respectful, responsible, and careful. We talked about how our manners fit into those life skills we already know! To culminate our manners learning, we held a fancy day with a very special lunch time and practiced our manners all day.

For March, we will be going into our Oregon Animal study! We are so excited to learn about beavers, peregrine falcons, and other wildlife surrounding us here in Oregon.

Please remember that the weather will remain wet for the next few months. Accidents also happen at this age (and milk spills!). Please ensure your child has extra clothes (including underwear and socks) in their cubby. These little ones are still learning responsibility and it helps to have an outfit to change into if needed.

As always, if you have any knowledge or experience in our study for the month, we would love for you to come and share it with the class! They love to learn from you.

We’re excited to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day and might even invite a leprechaun or two into our room!

All the love,

Miss Madeline, Ms. Stephanie, and Mr. Keegan
