Sprout Families,
“Oh. the places you’ll go! Today is your day! Your mountain is waiting, so… get on your way!”
– Dr. Seuss
The sprouts have been busy with water, sand, and rocks all through July! The sandbox has been a fun place to practice fine motor skills and develop healthy imaginations. Water play has been so enjoyable, not just outside. We did lots of water painting, and we talked about why the water dries so quickly on a hot day. Running through the sprinkler and splashing in the water table were the Sprouts’ favorite activities this month, and it was so fun to see them interact with the water in their own way.
Monthly Highlights:
Alice enjoyed scooping and pouring while playing in the water sensory bins! She used a small cup during this activity.
Brody enjoyed playing with the water table during outside time! He used sponges to soak up water and squeezed them onto the ground.
Bode enjoyed sorting rocks at the table during free play! He usually sorts them by grouping small stones and big rocks.
Eliza cooled off outside by splashing in the water with her friends!
Norah used sand and glue to decorate her paper bucket and shovel during art class. It turned out great!
Owen enjoyed collecting rocks outside. He liked showing his friends and teachers all of his discoveries. He also would hide them in his pockets!
Van loves to dig with shovels in the sandbox outside. He used the strainer to find rocks and treasures!
Savannah enjoyed painting with water and brushes outside. She made circle shapes on the pavement!
Mary took her time to create a beautiful watercolor painting during art class. She uses so many different colors!
Our August study will be “Things that Go.” We will be learning all about transportation. This will include exploring different types of vehicles and their respective modes of movement. We will incorporate activities that enhance various skills through free play, sensory moments, books, and songs.
We want to take a moment to thank all of you for a wonderful year! We know that your children will thrive in the Bud room, but they will be missed in the Sprout room! We will cherish each bond created during our time as a class! Best of luck on this next chapter!
