2026 May Sprout 2 News

Welcome Sprout Families

In April, the Sprouts focused on Boxes and Containers.  They explored endless possibilities with boxes. Each Sprout had their own custom box car. Some friends turned boxes into an airplane and even a tent. The Sprouts also explored quantities in containers and worked on their fine motor skills by learning how to close each container.

Monthly Highlights

  • Avery enjoyed her boxcar. Whenever it was time to put it away, she asked for more time. She named her car “Beep”.
  • Kollins has been practicing her Spanish colors. Kollins knows green, red, and blue in Spanish.
  • Luca loved his car project. Luca even named his car “Frannie”.
  • Maisy continues to amaze us with her Spanish. Maisy will often lead the Spanish meal song and the Buenos Días song. Go Maisy!
  • Milo has gotten very comfortable with the bikes outside. He has even shown us some new tricks!
  • Oliver has gotten very verbal this month. Oliver will call each friend by their name. Oliver has decided that Miss. Yesenia is “Chenia” and Miss. Jennifer is “Chani”.
  • Thomas enjoyed the container aspect of this month’s study. Thomas loved the dinosaur eggs and easter eggs. Thomas would fill the eggs and close them. Breaking them on the carpet, then doing it again.
  • Wesley has really shown us their bilingual skills this month. She reminds us that there are no more leftovers from meals by saying “ya no ay”, or she will even tell us where something is located by saying “aqui, ahi y alla” (here, there, and over there). Good work, Wesley!

May’s study will be Our Clothes.

Throughout the month, we will focus on the different types of clothes that the Sprouts wear every day, such as coats, shoes, sweaters, and shorts, to name a few. They will problem-solve to decide what they need or do not need to wear when going outside. The dramatic play area will be transformed into a store with many different clothes to try on. The Sprouts will also have the chance to develop their fine and gross motor skills as they practice using buttons, zippers, snaps, and putting on shoes and socks.

Books this Month:

  • I Love My White Shoes
  • Pete The Cat And His Four Groovy Buttons
  • Llama Llama Red Pajama

What can you do at home?

  • Draw your child’s attention to their clothes and invite them to help choose what to wear that day.
  • Discuss with your child why those choices would be appropriate for that day.
  • Encourage them to put on socks and shoes.
  • Lastly, allow them time to try, try, and try again.

Friendly Reminders

  • Sunscreen season is upon is please sign the sunscreen form and bring in your own sunscreen if that is preferred.
  • Please make sure your child has the appropriate spring clothing and or backup clothes.

Have a great month!

-Miss. Jennifer & Miss. Yesenia
