Sprout Families,
Avery, Eliza, Elliot, Kollins, Luca, Maisy, Sydney, and Wesley did an excellent job adapting to our classroom. It’s wonderful to see how they’re becoming more comfortable with the new routine and already gaining independence!
The evolving Sprout:
The goal in the Sprout room is to help your child develop independence. Doing things on their own is their work and will help them feel heard and build self-confidence.
You will see our Sprouts:
- Washing their hands independently
- Gathering their blankets and loveys for naptime and returning their belongings afterward.
- Drinking from an open cup
- Throwing their trash in the trash can
- Participating in clean-up activities
- Attempting to take off shoes and socks before naptime.
September’s study was titled “Our School.”
Our focus was:
- Creating a bond with each child
- Introducing routines
- Acquainted with our room
- Exploring our big playground
Monthly Highlights:
Avery truly loves the new babies, and she enjoys wrapping them in a blanket and cuddling them while she walks around the classroom.
Eliza’s favorite outdoor spot has always been the seesaw; she can’t get enough of it, and she has even taught her friends how to get on it and use it properly.
Elliot loves singing songs and dancing to them; he even requests more songs. This month, his favorite song was “The Ants Go Marching.”
Kollin enjoys a good book, especially during circle time. She is in her zone while we sing songs and interact with the storyboard.
Luca enjoys playing with the dinosaurs. He and best friend Elliott have enjoyed organizing the dinosaurs into families.
Maisy loves playing with food outside, filling cups and plates with sand, then pretending to eat it with a spoon.
Sydney is an expert at locking and unlocking the key toys. She really has some skills.
Wesley is a big fan of the busy boards and loves opening the puppy door!
October’s study is Paper .
The kiddos will be exploring where paper comes from along with learning how to use paper in its endless possibilities. For circle time we will read the following books:
- Llama Llama Trick Or Treat by Anna Dewdney
- The Great Paper Caper by Oliver Jeffers
- Where Is The Pumpkin by Fhiona Galloway
- Spooky Pookie by Sandra Boynton
As fall approaches, we would appreciate it if your child had appropriate outerwear for the unpredictable weather. For example: a heavier jacket for cool mornings, paired with a lighter jacket or sweatshirt for warmer afternoons. Outerwear should be left at school for the week and taken home on Friday for washing before being returned on Monday.
It’s not too early to start gathering their winter clothing. It doesn’t need to be at school until the first snow falls. Please label each item:
- Snowsuit
- Hat
- Boots
- Two pairs of mittens
We appreciate your time and everything you do.
Miss Jennifer, Miss Yesenia, and Mrs. Kelcy
