2026 April Seedling News

Seedling Families,

In March, we welcomed our friend Roman! Roman jumped right into class with such excitement, and his friends did an amazing job welcoming him to play! We said “See you later” to Sonny and Archie– we will miss them, but they are ready to play with the Big Seeds now as one-year-olds!

Thank you for attending conferences! We love having time to truly connect with y’all and collaborate to set your kiddo up for success.

As the weather permits, we will go outside to enjoy some fresh air! Please make sure your kiddo has weather-appropriate clothing (layers are always great), a lightweight jacket, and socks/shoes, depending on what you have. We typically keep spares, so no worries if you forget.

Next school closure:

Monday, May 25, 2026, for Memorial Day

Our school calendar is always available via our website at www.thegrowingtree.org/school-calendar/

Free play:

Free play allows an infant to explore their world at their own pace and how they want. During free play, we observe how the child interacts with their surroundings. We like to explain what we see happening: “Oh! You’ve picked up the rattle. You’re putting the rattle in your mouth. Now you’re shaking the rattle! Shake, shake, shake! Wow, the rattle makes a loud noise!” their surroundings. We like to explain what we see happening. “Oh! You picked up the rattle. Offer inviting options; different textures, colors, and shapes/sizes. Infants have a way of using items in unique and creative ways —make sure the objects in their space are safe for them to explore—no broken edges, choking hazards, etc. Infants build brain connections through sensory exploration, so most items end up in their mouths.

Bring in a family photo to place on our family board! We would love to fill it up with your faces! 😀

Kiddo highlights:

Archer has been interested in standing and walking this month. He’s been practicing standing with minimal support and using classroom items to push. He’s signing for “all done” at the table too!

Bodhi has mastered his skills in rolling back and forth! He rolls to his tummy to grab a toy, then rolls to his back to continue his play!

Calvin is sitting very confidently! He has now begun to push himself to a crawling position and rock back and forth.

Elliotte has introduced purees to her day-to-day, and she loves it! She has also been working on her independent sitting– engaging her core muscles!

Graham has been pulling himself up on all the surfaces of the room! He’s been very intrigued by playing with his friends.

Luke has continued working on his rolling over skills. He’s even begun rolling himself over in his crib!

Roman has built connections with his teachers and friends so quickly! He is moving all around the classroom with confidence!

Sonny began walking with no assistance. He giggles the whole time and claps after he sits back down. Sonny has begun using the sign for eat and saying “tuh-tuh” when he wants to eat!

Warmly,

Ms. Jo, Ms. Danielle & Ms. Blanca
