Halloween

On October 30th Growing Tree celebrates TEAM Day. Please dress your child in their favorite team apparel. This can be any team... team Disney, team OSU etc. Please no Halloween costumes, we would feel terrible if pieces were lost or damaged. Also, on this day we will have a special project for the children to work on at school and take home. Matt will also serve a special snack. We ask that you do not bring in any special treats but thank you for the thought..

Conferences

Parent/Teacher conferences will be held on Wednesday, November 11th. School will be closed on this day so that teachers may meet with each family individually via phone call.  Please check  your Brightwheel messages for the link to schedule your conference. Hard copies of your child's conference will be sent home on Friday, November 6th for your review prior to your conference.

Temperature Checks

We received new guidelines from the Early Learning Division in regards to temperature checks. The guidelines state: Temperature taking will no longer be a requirement as OHA has determined that it is not as effective of a Covid measure as once believed. The guidelines will state “Staff can ask for verbal certification from the parent, a child who is old enough to answer for themselves, or note that  has already been verified through the school or other provider who cared for the child earlier in the day. Or staff can check using a thermometer. Providers may have a policy requiring use of a thermometer to check for fever.”    Growing Tree will continue to have a thermometer at the front desk if needed. Parents will continue to answer daily health check questions, one being  has your child had a fever?

Winter clothes

We are trying to find a system that works best for personal items going back and forth between school, especially moving into winter. This is what we would like to see so that we have consistency between home and school. Most importantly we want your child to have the necessary winter clothes to go outside each day.
  • If possible, we would appreciate the following items left at school for the winter months: hat, boots, 2 pair of mittens, snow pants, and winter jacket. By having these items at school your child will be prepared to go outside each day. Please label all items!!
  • On  Friday's if you would like the snow clothes to go home, please message us through Brightwheel and we can send them home.
  • If your child will be wearing their boots back and forth to school please provide a pair of slippers or tennis shoes for them to wear in the classroom
  • I am open to any ideas to make this process easier
  • Did you know that it is not recommended that children wear any type of coat while in their carseat?  Car Seats and Winter Coats Safety Video

Inclement Weather

For your review, prior to the weather going south, our Inclement Weather/Emergency Closure Policy is as follows:
  • Growing Tree does NOT follow the public-school schedule for snow/weather days or 2-hour delays. It is our goal to remain open as usual.
  • On these days when the public schools have closures, I will send out an early email/text confirming our status via BRIGHTWHEEL
  • In the event we need to close the center due to weather or an emergency, we will contact you first via BRIGHTWHEEL and then post closure information on Facebook.
  • In the event of an emergency, if the situation allows, we will the contact you via phone once we are safe.
Please friend us on Facebook so that you may receive notifications of all the happenings at Growing Tree: https://www.facebook.com/growing.tree.be

Book Fair - Week of November 9th

Our Book Fair this year will look a little different. A flyer will be sent home on Friday November 6th with the books that we will have available to buy. You will then fill out an order form and we will fill your order and return it to you at the end of the day.
