About the USDA

Under the Final Rule: Nutrition Standards in the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Programs(link is external) (1/26/12) school menus for breakfast and lunch are required to meet dietary specifications (nutrient standards) for calories, saturated fat, and sodium.
